COURSE Overview
This course will allow you to develop your interest in and appreciation of English, through learning about its structures and functions, developments and variations. You will learn how to analyse and explore language use as well as developing as a writer.

Type: A Level
Entry Requirements:Standard entry requirements plus a minimum of a 6 in GCSE English or GCSE English language.
Course Length: 2 Years
You will study a range of topics including:
- Textual variations and representation
- Children’s language development
- Language diversity and change
- Language discourse
You will also complete two pieces of coursework (NEA Investigation and NEA The Power of Information/The Power of Storytelling) which will require a high level of independent research and study.
This subject is assessed by two examinations at the end of your course and by the submission of your coursework (NEAs) earlier in the second year of study.
The study of English Language can be helpful in any career in which a good command of the written word is beneficial, or where you are required to think analytically or creatively. These might include: digital copywriter, editorial assistance, English as an additional language teacher, magazine journalist, copy-editor, proof-reader, web content manager, journalist, writer, marketing executive, media researcher, public relations officer, or social media manager.
