Guide to A-Level Physics

Physics is the science of matter, energy, space and time. It covers a scale ranging from sub atomic particles such as quarks to stars and the entire universe. On the A level physics course you learn about both fundamental concepts and physics in everyday settings.

The course will build on GCSE knowledge. Year 1 topics include: motion, energy, electric circuits, waves and quantum behaviour. At Year 2 you will discover more about Newton’s laws and momentum, uses of physics in medicine and the nuclear industry as well as what particle accelerators can tell us about the universe

You will be assessed by examination and practical work.
