About
This qualification will enable you to develop the essential knowledge and skills needed for building a career in the sports industry with a specific
focus on physiology, fitness training, practical sport and careers in sport. The qualification will give you a broad base of the sector and can be
linked with other BTEC Nationals or A Levels.
You will gain an insight into the various different occupational routes you can take, helping you progress in employment, or move on to further study.
What will I study
Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology
Unit 1 is an examined unit that enables students to gain an appreciation of the body systems and explore the structure of the skeletal, muscular,
cardiovascular, respiratory and energy systems as well as additional factors that affect sport and exercise performance.
Unit 2: Fitness Training & Programming for Health, Sport & Wellbeing
This topic will guide students to develop an understanding of the effects of lifestyle choices on an individual's well-being then act upon this through
lifestyle modification techniques, nutritional requirements and training methods to an individual's needs and goals. This guides students to understand
an individual from lifestyle choices, right through to implementing a tailored training programme.
Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry
Exploring career and job opportunities in the sports industry through auditing own skills and undertaking a recruitment activity to demonstrate the
processes that can lead to a successful job offer in a selected career pathway. This presents the opportunity for practical development of skills suited
to real-world scenarios, equipping students for their next steps.
Unit 7: Practical Sports Performance
Understanding rules and regulations of sports and demonstration of skills, tactics and decision making within these sports. Students will then be tasked
with performing in these sports and reflecting upon performance using selected assessment methods.

1 hour 30 minutes externally assessed exam
