Once you have read through our course guide and researched the courses we offer, you can apply in a number of ways. We recommend that you apply early to secure your place.

Student Recruitment
Macmillan Academy Post 16
Stockton Road

If you are a Year 11 student at Macmillan Academy there is no need to fill out any forms.
Once you have applied we will contact you within 10 working days to arrange your interview date.

Interviews usually take place at Post 16 or at your current school.
The interview is fairly informal and we will discuss which courses you are interested in studying and your career aims.

We ask students to bring a copy of their most recent report and predicted GCSE grades, as this will help us to advise on the best courses for you.
We will contact you, usually via a letter with our decision usually within a week of your interview.
We require all students to study either 3 subjects or the equivalent (some vocational qualification are equal to two subjects).
There is a bus service which is also used by Macmillan Academy students. Details of this and how to apply for a termly bus pass can be found here (web link).

As mention below, the 16-19 bursary can be used for transport costs should you match this criteria.
We are able to provide assistance to those students most in need of financial help through the 16-19 Bursary Fund. This can be used for such things as help with food costs, transport, books, stationery and equipment.

For 16-19 year old students £1,200 per year bursary is available for students in, or previously in care, or for those in receipt of income support. All students in 2020/2021 with a household income up to £21,000 per annum could receive assistance by any of the means mentioned above.

The application process is simple, quick and confidential. If we can help you, we will.
Post 16 students are not required to stay on site when not in timetabled lessons.

Whilst there are various facilities to use in your non lesson time, students can leave the site as long as they sign in and out at the main reception.
